This webinar will provide an overview of the SysML and demonstrate how process flow from requirements through to software engineering design can be improved. In the current economic climate the opportunity to improve engineering efficiency is of greater importance than ever.

Engineering Functions involved in the development of complex systems often have developed effective processes and methodologies that meet their specific functional responsibilities and needs. However, these have often been developed in isolation and do not account for effective collaboration between functional groups. These ‘islands of process’ create discontinuities between groups resulting in communication problems and inefficiencies in an engineering organisation.


Significant improvements in software engineering processes have been made over the past 10 years. The adoption of the industry design standard such as UML has contributed to these improvements. Recognizing the value of common modeling standards systems engineers and tool vendors have been working with the OMG to extend the UML to meet systems engineering requirements. The result is the SysML which was issued as a standard in 2006.

The emergence of this standard has enabled Engineering organisations to look at improving the integration of processes between systems and software groups.
