‘Software500 2013’ is the 31st annual revenue-based ranking of the world’s largest software and services companies
Sep 10, 2013 - 09:40 AM
Atego, the leading independent supplier of industrial-grade, collaborative development tools for engineering complex, mission- and safety-critical architectures, systems, software and hardware, has been ranked #407 by Software Magazine in its 2013 Software500.
Now in its 31st year, the 2013 Software500 is an annual, revenue-based ranking of the world’s largest software and services companies targeting medium to large enterprises, their IT professionals, software developers and business managers involved in software and services purchasing. The ranking is based on total worldwide software and services revenue for 2012. This includes revenues from software licenses, maintenance and support, training and software-related services and consulting. Suppliers are not ranked on their total corporate revenue, since many have other lines of business, such as hardware. The Financial information is gathered by a survey prepared by Rockport Custom Publishing, LLC. using public documents and company input.
“We are extremely pleased to be ranked in the Software500 as one of the world’s top software and services companies once again,” said Richard Horsman, CEO of Atego. “2012 was a significant year for our business. We successfully completed the integration of our recent acquisition from IBM, which is already contributing towards our growing revenues and profitability. This has been reflected in our Software500 ranking, which has moved up 22 places in the last 2 years.’
The 2013 Software500 results show that revenue growth in the software and services industry was healthy, with total Software500 revenue of $643.6 billion worldwide for 2012, representing approximately 17 percent growth from the previous year’s list.
“The 2013 Software500 results show that employment in the software and services industry was very healthy, increasing 9.5 percent to total Software500 company employment of 4,924,121,” says John P. Desmond, editor, Software Magazine. “At the same time, overall revenue was up four percent from last year to $672.9 billion,” he adds.
“The Software500 helps CIOs, senior IT managers, and IT staff research and create the short list of business partners,” Desmond says. “It is a quick reference of vendor viability. And the online version, to be posted soon at http://www.softwaremag.com, is searchable by category, making it what we call the online catalog to enterprise software.”
