Aonix PERC Ultra Virtual Machine flies high on recent business jet certification tests
Rockwell Collins Venue HD Cabin Management System is powered by Atego’s flagship virtual machine technology
Apr 13, 2010 - 08:00 AM
Atego, the leading independent supplier of industrial-grade, collaborative development tools for engineering complex, mission- and safety-critical architectures, systems, software and hardware, announces the latest successful deployment of its Aonix PERC Ultra® Virtual Machine in Rockwell Collins’ Venue high definition (HD) Cabin Management System (CMS). The most recent certification was completed on the Cessna Citation CJ4 business jet. The award-winning Venue™ HD CMS, built and delivered by Rockwell Collins, is standard equipment on this new aircraft.
“Rockwell Collins’ Venue CMS is a great example of the flexibility and applicability of Java™ to many application types,” commented James B. Gambrell, Executive Chairman at Atego. “Aonix PERC Ultra is deployed in weapons systems, network infrastructure product, transportation systems and now, world-class in-flight entertainment. We’re very pleased to be part of this exciting new product delivery.”
Already deployed in hundreds of thousands of systems in the military/aerospace, telecommunications, transportation and industrial control markets, Aonix PERC Ultra is used by Rockwell Collins in its Venue cabin management system, providing deterministic, real-time performance and high productivity development. Venue combines home theatre quality XM Radio, hi-def Blu-Ray™ DVD and integrated real-time flight status information, together with cabin environmental cooling and heating features.
To support its real-time response requirements, Rockwell Collins relies on Aonix PERC Ultra’s reliability and predictability in performance envelopes supporting millisecond latencies. Aonix PERC Ultra’s real-time Java capabilities can guarantee the predictability and reliability of the system’s operation even within multi-role applications such as Venue. Additionally, Atego supported Rockwell Collins’ project with updated Java interfaces to OpenGL for 2D and 3D graphics through a Java OpenGL (JOGL) wrapper to enable access to OpenGL libraries from within a Java context.
