TRAK 101 : Introduction to TRAK

Course Dates

Date(s) & Location(s):
Duration:
1 day

Course Description

TRAK is an architecture framework, originally for use in the rail industry and sponsored by the UK Department for Transport. It is a standard to promote consistency, interoperability and exchange of architecture models and can be used to represent concepts ranging from high level business or enterprise goals to the detailed working of a solution, whether an organization or a physical product, and can place the solution in the proper context of an enterprise and its projects.

This one day course gives you an overview of TRAK, defining key terms and concepts as embodied in the TRAK meta-model with an emphasis on realizing TRAK views using modeling. An example rail system is used to examine example TRAK views and consideration is given to ensuring consistency between views through modeling.

Course Objectives

  • Provide an awareness of the principles and concepts behind TRAK
  • Describe the structure and content of TRAK
  • To see example of TRAK applied to a rail system
  • Enable attendees to appreciate the issues surrounding the use of TRAK

Attendees Will Learn

  • What is an architectural framework
  • The structure and content of TRAK
  • Example of how to realize TRAK views

Pre-requisites

  • An understanding of software or systems engineering principles and concerns

Who Should Attend

  • Those wanting to learn about TRAK in order to understand how to interpret and use TRAK views

Attendees Receive

  • A bound copy of all course slides, including examples of all TRAK views taken from a rail system
  • Laminates which detail each TRAK view and show how they are related
